job purpose:

 

The quality laboratory analyst will provide key support for the quality department. This position is responsible for generating daily reports and trending information, data entry and collection, project assistance regarding plant projects and R&D projects, communicating with department staff, and providing assistance to the quality assurance laboratory when needed. The analyst will also be responsible for monitoring/assisting with compliance regulations.

responsibilities:

  • Assist with/perform new-hire training on specialized laboratory equipment.
  • Sample products and prepare special requests for products.
  • Assist in plant investigations, i.e. customer complaints, product sampling, non-conforming products, etc.
  • Assist in the sampling and inspection of products for VIP orders.
  • Assist the plant in performing specialized testing or analysis.
  • Assist R&D department with new testing and projects.
  • Provide information and data to the senior quality manager regarding special projects.
  • Fill out required worksheets and logs in an accurate manner.
  • Maintain all results and reports in a confidential manner in accordance with the Company Letter of Confidentiality.
  • Assist the quality systems analyst with implementation and maintenance of any new LIMS software, internal programs, etc.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly, and neat work area at all times.
  • Communication of results to the proper individuals in a timely, confidential, and professional manner.
  • Follow all safety, work, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) rules.
  • Support QA team with routine laboratory testing including sensory evaluation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • Ensure all equipment is to be operated in a safe, efficient, and sanitary manner.
  • Provide input and support for quality documents, processes and procedures.  Ensure all procedures, work aids, forms, etc. are current and document controlled.

 

skills/qualifications required:

  • College degree is highly preferred, but not required.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a laboratory setting is required.
  • College level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English is required.

 

working conditions and physical requirements:

  • 40-45 hours/sitting/standing/walking/lifting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Assist can be provided.

 

food safety responsibilities:

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
