about our internship program:

The fairlife Summer Internship Program is designed to welcome interns across our locations to gain meaningful experience and social and professional development opportunities. For 11 weeks, interns will work full-time in one of our three locations: Chicago, IL, Coopersville, MI, or Goodyear, AZ. fairlife’s paid internship program also offers a summer full of social, professional, and community engagement events including exposure to our senior leadership and executives across the business in small group settings, insight into company initiatives, off-site field trips, and for those qualified and selected, an opportunity to pursue a full-time job opportunity.

The fairlife 2024 Summer Internship Program will take place from 6/3 through 8/16 at the fairlife location specified in this job description.

job purpose: As the Project Management Intern you will support the Sr. Manager, PMO & Project and Program Manager, PMO to deliver successful projects and business outcomes across the key portfolios of fairlife with a focus on the strategic initiatives. 

A key part of this role will be to establish and nurture relationships with project teams and broader program/portfolio stakeholders, whilst providing consultation and support on project, program and portfolio standards, methods, tools, and templates (pmo365). 

skills/qualifications required:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program, entering the fall semester as a sophomore, junior, or senior
  • Preferred focus on Engineering, Supply Chain, or Information Technology
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0, or higher
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment

learning objectives:

  • PMO Project Methodologies, Requirements, and Standards
    • GOAL: To be able to follow project methodologies, requirements, and standards to assist in managing a project.
    • OBJECTIVE: The student will apply principles, processes, and standards to provide structure to the delivery of the project.
    • OUTCOME: The student should have a general understanding of project management fundamentals and the methodology types to implement projects.
  • Project Scope, Schedule, and Budget
    • GOAL: To be able to manage the overall health of a project by keeping it in scope, on schedule, and within budget.
    • OBJECTIVE: The student will assist with defining and/or following the scope of the work needed to complete the project, the timeline identified, and stay within the budget provided.
    • OUTCOME: The student should have a general understanding of how to define the scope of a project; how to create a project schedule and manage resources; and maintain a project budget.
  • Project Risks and Issues
    • GOAL: To be able to identify, monitor, and minimize project risks and issues
    • OBJECTIVE: The student will assist with creating and/or managing a Risk Registry and Issues Log for a project. They will identify risks, the impact, probability, and response. They will also manage issues by analyzing, prioritizing, monitor, control, and identifying a resolution.
    • OUTCOME: The student should have a general understanding of both the risk and issue management processes and how to use them to manage a project.
  • Communication and Building Relationships
    • GOAL: To be able to connect and communicate clearly with project sponsors, team, stakeholders, and vendors to manage the project successfully.
    • OBJECTIVE: The student will sharpen their ability to actively listen, communicate clearly, and build trust with everyone involved in the project. They will facilitate meetings, drive discussions, provide direction, and address questions and concerns throughout the project.
    • OUTCOME: The student should be confident and comfortable working with and communicating directly to leadership, project sponsors, team, stakeholders, and vendors throughout every aspect of a project.
  • Strategic Impact of Project
    • GOAL: Learn and understand how projects deliver benefits and drive strategic success for an organization
    • OBJECTIVE: The student will assist in managing a project and participate in discussions to ensure the project benefits are on target. They will assess and manage the strategic impact of decisions being made throughout the life of the project. Exhibit foresight, independent thinking, resourcefulness, and the ability to make decisions.
    • OUTCOME: The student should have a deeper understanding of how managing project benefits is the foundation to strategic success for an organization.
