job purpose: Responsible and accountable for the creation and execution of infrastructure design and construction capital projects, ensuring these are maintained in prime condition. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of specific projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. Ensure investments meet the country goals and are maintained / replaced as needed to ensure optimal use of capital and operational resources.

 

responsibilities:

  • Create and safety and quality culture required for a world class organization.
  • Lead the overall infrastructure planning to ensure business objectives are met with optimized investment and operational cost.
  • Confirm equipment operates efficiently, at optimum cost, by keeping in prime condition at suitable cost through use of effective maintenance systems and practices. Regularly reviews potential of equipment upgrade / replacement to improve operating cost / performance.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of projects.
  • Ensure project management methodology is rigorously followed: Suitable definition of project scope, out of scope, goals and deliverables. Effectively follow project financial controls (RFI, RFA, RFP – electronic versions where applicable) Detailed project budget. Full list of project tasks and resource requirements. Realistic and aligned full scale project plans. This to include use of steering committee for large projects.
  • Assemble and coordinate project team/s comprising both internal resources and external staff.  Manage resource allocation.
  • Ensure best practices, design principles, standards are incorporated, and designs are reviewed with suitable stakeholders for input/guidance/leverage group experience.
  • Ensure project execution is monitored and managed to meet business requirements: Track project budget, schedule and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Ensure projects meet quality assurance, legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Report regularly on status of the project-to-project steering committee and stakeholders, including reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions.
  • Implement and manages project changes, change control and other interventions to achieve all required project outputs.
  • Conduct intermediate and post project evaluations and assessment of results.  Ensure results and lessons learned are captured in a close-out report.
  • Validate all capital project metrics are in place and being reported properly. 
  • Liaise with other supply chain and technical managers including quality, EOSH and logistics to ensure assigned capital projects meet agreed business needs in the most cost-effective way.
  • Own the engineering and development of plans for capital improvements/upgrades to the facility and all utility systems. 
  • Plan, direct and coordinate activities concerned with design, construction, modification and maintenance of equipment and machinery in an industrial plant.
  • Prepare performance and availability/reliability calculations, in accordance with ongoing continuous monitoring efforts.
  • Provide engineering oversight to the facility infrastructure (boilers, HVAC, compressed air, etc.).
  • Assure plant compliance to Federal, State and Corporate environmental laws, rules & regulations.
  • Coordinate with other functions in plant to ensure compliance with all environmental laws and regulations.
  • Partner with vendors and suppliers to leverage insight, training, and productivity.

 

skills/qualifications required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.
  • Supply Chain Management expertise in CPG
  • 10+ years in the dairy or beverage industry.
  • Self-starter; take charge, positive & proactive attitude.
  • Ability to communicate clearly within the organization and externally.
  • Demonstrable teamwork and maturity with a strong work ethic.
  • Experience in Process, Packaging and Plant Engineering.
  • Strong leadership skills.

 

position location: Coopersville, MI (preferred) Chicago and Atlanta possible alternate locations.

travel requirements: 80%
