The Coca-Cola Company Breaks Ground on fairlife Facility Expansion in Coopersville, Michigan
Expansion will add:
- Two new production lines
- 245,000 square feet to existing facility
- Approximately 200 new, full-time jobs
COOPERSVILLE, Mich., Aug. 5, 2026 — The Coca-Cola Company today celebrated the groundbreaking for a $650 million project that will expand the fairlife production facility in Coopersville, Michigan.
Becca Kerr, fairlife CEO, was joined by Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to commemorate the milestone. Coopersville Mayor Brian Mooney, Lakeshore Advantage Interim President Mandy Cooper and other elected officials and local leaders also attended.
“Our Coopersville plant has long been a powerhouse for the fairlife business, and this investment represents our largest expansion of the facility to date and our commitment to continuing to grow in Michigan by adding approximately 200 full-time jobs,” said Becca Kerr, fairlife CEO. “The expansion will allow us to bring in an additional four million pounds of milk from Michigan dairy suppliers each day and significantly increase capacity and availability of fairlife products.”
The fairlife plant in Coopersville began production in 2012 and currently employs nearly 450 full-time workers.
“Michigan is open for business and on the move, and today’s expansion is proof that our work to invest in Michigan communities, create good-paying jobs, and grow our economy is paying off,” said Governor Whitmer. “This $650 million expansion will create 200 new full-time jobs right here in Michigan and support dairy farms across our state. I’m proud of our work to support this project, and excited to see how it will make a difference for Coopersville. Let’s keep working together to grow Michigan’s economy and build a bright future.”
“The impact of this expansion will stretch far beyond this facility, and even this community,” said Mandy Cooper, interim president of Lakeshore Advantage. “fairlife’s increased production will create new opportunities for dairy producers and suppliers throughout Michigan. Combined with critical water infrastructure improvements, this investment strengthens the Lakeshore’s growing food and agribusiness cluster and creates capacity for future economic growth across the region.”
The expansion project is expected to be completed in early 2028. The company is also in the final stages of completing a new fairlife production facility in upstate New York. Other fairlife production facilities are located in Arizona, New Mexico and Ontario, Canada.
