Meet Our fairlife Grant Winners: Getting Grown Collective

In January of 2018, we awarded $2500 grants to 5 deserving Chicagoland organizations tackling problems of food access, insecurity, and sustainability. We’re proud to share their stories and support the incredible work they are doing for their communities.

Getting Grown Collective

Inspired by food movements in California, Taryn Randle founded Getting Grown Collective in April 2017. Determined to bring a green space to her neighborhood of Englewood, Taryn, her family, and her neighbors turned a vacant lot into a community garden providing fresh vegetables and greens. The garden not only provided a source of healthy food, but a place for the neighbors to gather and throw events.

With the fairlife Grant, Getting Grown Collective began work on a second, larger urban farm across 4 lots, aiming to grow more food for the community and cultivate a native plant garden.
