about our internship program:

The fairlife Summer Internship Program is designed to welcome interns across our locations to gain meaningful experience and social and professional development opportunities. For 10 weeks, interns will work in one of our three locations: Chicago, IL, Coopersville, MI, or Goodyear, AZ. fairlife’s paid internship program also offers a summer full of social, professional, and community engagement events including exposure to our senior leadership and executives across the business in small group settings, insight into company initiatives, off-site field trips, and for those qualified and selected, an opportunity to pursue a full-time job opportunity.

The fairlife 2023 Summer Internship Program will take place from 6/5 through 8/11 at one of the fairlife locations: Chicago, IL, Coopersville, MI, or Goodyear, AZ.

job purpose: Our Warehouse and Inventory intern will tackle numerous challenges that the industry is facing today - consumer demands driving the need for speed and quality, and an ever-increasingly volatile supply chain. They will help us drive efficiency by creating process maps and participating in continuous improvement projects for the warehouse.  They will also ensure that there are sufficient inventory levels to the support production schedule. 

skills/qualifications required:

• Must be currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program, entering the fall semester as a sophomore, junior, or senior or are working towards a graduate degree
• Preferred focus on Supply Chain Management
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0, or higher
• Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment

project overview and guidelines:

• Perform analysis of data and processes to identify and eliminate waste within the value chain to increase warehouse workflow efficiency
• Shadow warehouse operations to understand functions including packing, picking, and inventory control
• Create time efficiency studies and other productivity improvement data collection
• Enhance and audit standard processes across the warehouse and inventory teams
• Develop reporting and business intelligence using cross-functional systems and data models
• Work as a team on special projects with oversite from a mentor and coach

learning objectives:

• Gain hands-on knowledge in several warehouse and inventory rotating your time in areas including shipping, and receiving operations, and inventory control.
• Develop warehouse and inventory management skills while learning how to lead and motivate others.

working conditions and physical requirements:

• 8 hours sitting/standing/walking
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Reaching/bending requirements
• Exposure to machinery, and confined spaces
• Temperatures between 34 degrees and 80 degrees

food safety requirements:

• Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.

• Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
• Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
• Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
• Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
• Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
• In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.

schedule: On-Site, Monday-Friday 8 am to 5 pm

internship duration: 6/5 through 8/11
