about our internship program:

The fairlife Summer Internship Program is designed to welcome interns across our locations to gain meaningful experience and social and professional development opportunities. For 10 weeks, interns will work in one of our three locations: Chicago, IL, Coopersville, MI, or Goodyear, AZ. fairlife’s paid internship program also offers a summer full of social, professional, and community engagement events including exposure to our senior leadership and executives across the business in small group settings, insight into company initiatives, off-site field trips, and for those qualified and selected, an opportunity to pursue a full-time job opportunity.

The fairlife 2023 Summer Internship Program will take place from 6/5 through 8/11 at one of the fairlife locations: Chicago, IL, Coopersville, MI, or Goodyear, AZ.

job purpose: The Shopper Marketing Intern will support the Shopper Marketing Team in building strategies for key pillar programs (such as NCAA March Madness) and executing tailored digital programming at key customers (Walmart).  The Shopper Marketing Intern will gain an understanding of the differences between the shopper vs. consumer, buying behaviors along the path to purchase (online vs. in-store), shopper marketing creative and strategic best practices, retailer priorities and differences, and the retail competitive environment. The Shopper Marketing team works cross-functionally across Marketing, Commercial, Sales, eCommerce, and Finance, so the Shopper Marketing Intern will gain exposure to multiple different disciplines across both the fairlife and Coca-Cola companies.

skills/qualifications required:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program, entering the fall semester as a sophomore, junior, or senior or are working towards a graduate degree
  • Preferred focus on Marketing, Business, Communication, Journalism, Advertising
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0, or higher
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Organizational and planning skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple groups
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities

project overview and guidelines:

  • Support Shopper lead on one shopper marketing pillar program throughout the total planning process, including:
    • Identify merchandising priorities & needs in collaboration with Channel Commercial leads.
    • Partner with Brand to brief in Agency on strategic and creative needs.
    • Attend Agency reviews, provide firsthand feedback, and collect & share broader team feedback with agency.
    • Work with designer to build full toolkit of shopper in-store and online assets.
  • Create a competitive audit to analyze how fairlife’s top competitors execute at shopper touchpoints in store and online.  Provide recommendations for opportunities.
    • Attend a series of store visits with Commercial leads to analyze competitive in-store activity.
  • Build any unique/innovative competitive or market learnings into the Shopper Snackable Series and present out to relevant functions.
  • Support creative testing to optimize Shopper Marketing Principles of Effective Communication.
  • Support Customer Marketing programs across top retailers, including analyzing creative, tactical plans, and program performance.

learning objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of each of the fairlife brands.
  • Develop an understanding of fairlife Commercial priorities by diving into Channel Plans and meeting with each Channel lead.
  • Gain an understanding of the Shopper & Commerce landscape and apply that understanding to planning and executional priorities for the Shopper team.
  • Exposure to the Shopper Marketing Principles for effective communication and merchandise. 
  • Attend regular Shopper & eCommerce team connects, and support Shopper Marketing manager on Retail Media Network projects.
  • Work across the fairlife and Coca-Cola organizations to understand the differences between organizations and develop programming together.
  • Identify 1-2 specific areas of interest within fairlife and establish development plan to get more exposure within that discipline.
  • Work collaboratively on multiple projects with Marketing, Commercial, Sales, eCommerce, and Finance to gain cross-functional exposure and alignment.

internship location: Chicago, IL

schedule: Hybrid schedule (in-office 3 days/week, remote 2 days/week). Working hours: 9am – 5pm (flexible as needed).
