job purpose: The Payroll & Accounts Payable Specialist will assist in all activities regarding the management of payroll activities, processing of vendor transactions and perform general accounting tasks.  This employee must have a strong understanding of the concept of confidentiality.  Attention to detail, organization and accuracy are essential skills for this position. 

 

Responsibilities Related to Payroll:

  • Assist with the processing of an accurate and timely bi-weekly, multi-state payroll in accordance with company policies, practices and procedures as well as appropriate state and federal regulations
  • Research and resolves payroll issues in a timely manner
  • Enter and updates garnishments, child support orders in payroll system
  • Serve as back-up for the Payroll Manager as needed

Responsibilities related to Accounts Payable:

  • Process vendor invoices through ERP system
  • Prepare/process required journal entries and accruals relating to Accounts Payable Department
  • Reconciliation of vendor statements
  • Knowledge of GL coding of vendor invoices and payment requests
  • Resolves account discrepancies by investigating documentation
  • Manages and audit the overall Accounts Payable functions to ensure compliance with Company policy
  • Perform additional duties or special assignments as assigned or required

skills/qualifications required:

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent required.  2-year degree preferred, but not required
  • 2+ years of payroll experience.  Previous experience with ADP WFN platform preferred
  • Exposure to accounts payable processing and coding
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and ability to flex with the needs of the business
  • Excellent organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling and time management
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel) and 10-Key
  • Knowledge of D365 a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Seek new, improved and innovative ways to increase effectiveness of departmental operations and processes
  • Ability to handle shifting priorities and work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
