job purpose:  
The Membrane/Separator Technician  is responsible for the care and maintenance of all membrane, associated CIP systems, and plant water equipment in the plant. Operations include daily maintenance of membranes, and all associated lines and tanks. Also included are troubleshooting and automation. This is a full-time day position with responsibilities to include receiving troubleshooting calls on off hours.
 

responsibilities:

level 1

  1. Responsible for all PM’s of equipment and ancillary pieces to include pumps, valves, probes, transmitters, for all the membrane and separator systems including support water systems. 
  2. Troubleshoot any incidents that create downtime on said equipment and facilitate repairs with Maintenance by communicating issues and equipment availability.  Ensure that operators are engaged in the troubleshooting process and understand how to resolve similar issues in the future by provide feedback and understanding. 
  3. Monitor and complete all necessary paperwork for internal and regulatory agencies.
    1. Daily Membrane & Separator Logs
    2. Membrane maps to track changeouts
    3. PBI membrane & separator reports
    4. CIP trends / Optimization opportunities
    5. Hydro Pro data
    6. Standard Operating Procedures
  4. Maintain all equipment parameters and recipes for the various membrane and separator.
  5. Provide technical leadership and tutoring to line operators. 
    1. Provide oversight over new operator training and have final sign off to ensure training is adequate. 
    2. Be a resource for operators.  Answer questions and enhance their knowledge of the membrane, separator, water, and CIP systems. 
  6. Ensure processes are standardized across all shifts.  Provide feedback to shift leadership when processes are not being followed. 
  7. Responsible for monitoring and upkeep of the filtered and purified water systems, include the RO skids, associated UV systems, and carbon towers. 
  8. Supervise and oversee membrane inventory, and changeout procedures when needed. 
  9. Drive continuous improvement activities regarding mechanical upkeep, and operational performance.  Execute all assigned Tactical and strategic items. 
  10. When the business need arises this position maybe asked to cover for hourly operator position.  This may include weekends, or night shift hours. 

 

level II

  1. Work as the technical liaison between the plant, engineering support (Tetra Pak) and regulatory agencies as needed to support plant operations and projects.
  2. Attend applicable FAT’s and act as main liaison between operations and engineering for upgrade projects.  This includes commissioning new equipment or upgrades to existing systems.


skills/qualifications required:

The appropriate candidate should have experience running the equipment as an operator and show proficiency in the daily operations of the aforementioned. The RE Admin should be well versed in PMO, P&ID, sanitation and CIP, aseptic theory, and have a mechanical understanding and background. The SME should have a high school diploma or college degree (preferred).

  • Ability to work required shift and be available for on-call hours on nights and weekends as required.

The job is performed indoors on a manufacturing floor.  Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, sparks, oil and smoke may occur. Protective safety equipment may be required including, but not limited to,:  hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, shoes, gloves, hardhat, and safety eyewear as needed.  Activities may include extended periods of standing.

 

Sitting/Standing/Walking: Stands, walks, and sits during completion of job responsibilities.

Lifting/Carrying: Occasional lifting requirements as job demands.  Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. on an occasional basis.

Pushing/Pulling: Occasional pushing or pulling requirements.

Bending/Stooping: Occasional bending and stooping requirements.

Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling: Occasional kneeling or crawling requirements.

Twisting/Turning: Ongoing twisting or turning requirements.

Climbing/Balancing: Climbing and balancing is required during plant inspections, and other related job requirements. Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations of 75 feet.

Reaching: Ongoing reaching requirements associated with job requirements.

Grasping/Manipulating: Grasping and manipulating of papers, objects, and equipment will be required.  Ability to keyboard for data input will be required on an ongoing basis.

Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form. Must have the ability to discern when issues may require input from levels of authority within the corporation.

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
