job purpose:

This position is responsible for inventory control in the maintenance shop, receiving and storing parts, maintenance/production supplies, and miscellaneous receivers. This position maintains inventories in MVP (maintenance parts inventory system). Basic math skills are needed for inventory/receiving tasks. Other responsibilities include: completing part purchase orders; assigning vendor/fairlife numbers and ensuring parts are in proper bins with proper minimum/maximum levels; ensuring work orders are charged correctly by reconciling daily cycle counts of inventory.

responsibilities:

  • Responsible for inventorying, stocking, and issuing parts and supplies for all equipment and production keepstock
  • Enters all part numbers, descriptions, and quantities into MVP (CMMS) maintaining a focus on accuracy
  • Issues replacement parts to mechanics, assists in finding needed parts when needed
  • Responsible for assembling and filling orders coordinating alongside the Maintenance Planner
  • Labels/bar codes all inventory parts for tracking usage
  • Enters receipt and distribution of parts/supplies into computer to update automated inventory records
  • Performs weekly inventory audit of parts, completing a full cycle count per year. Higher frequency for critical parts.
  • Receives shipments from vendors, checking vendor packing slips/invoices for accuracy and insuring quantities received are as stated
  • Directly issues parts received to open work orders or places in proper location within the parts room
  • Leads the transition from bins and shelves to cabinets to conserve space and improve efficiency
  • Maintains the cleanliness of the storeroom and surrounding area

 

skills/qualifications required:

  • Two to three years parts room experience or equivalent 
  • Knowledge of record keeping
  • Ability to maintain automated inventory records
  • Must be flexible and available after hours for emergency situations
  • Expertise and proficiency with basic office computer software, and the ability to learn how to    effectively use maintenance software to update work orders, run inventory reports and track costs, research and checkout parts.

 

working conditions and physical requirements:

Regular use of a variety of machines and tools is essential.  Standing for extended periods is common.  Hearing and vision within normal range is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents, manuals and drawings.

Good math and reasoning ability is essential. Able to understand and utilize engineering drawings, operating manuals, and blueprints to conduct business.

The job is performed indoors on a manufacturing floor.  Exposure to loud noises, dust, dirt, sparks, oil and smoke may occur. Protective safety equipment may be required including, but not limited to:  hearing protection, bump caps, hair and beard nets, shoes, gloves, hardhat, and safety eyewear as needed.  Activities may include extended periods of standing.

 

  • Sitting/Standing/Walking: Stands, walks and sits during completion of job responsibilities.
  • Lifting/Carrying: Occasional lifting requirements as job demands.  Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs. on an occasional basis.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Occasional pushing or pulling requirements.
  • Bending/Stooping: Occasional bending and stooping requirements.
  • Squatting/Kneeling/Crawling: Occasional kneeling or crawling requirements.
  • Twisting/Turning: Ongoing twisting or turning requirements.
  • Climbing/Balancing Climbing and balancing is required during plant inspections, and other related job requirements. Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations of 75 feet.
  • Reaching: Ongoing reaching requirements associated with job requirements.
  • Grasping/Manipulating: Grasping and manipulating of papers, objects, and equipment will be required.  Ability to keyboard for data input will be required on an ongoing basis.

 

food safety requirements:

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
