job purpose: The Laboratory Analyst 1 provides key support for the Quality Department including: Environmental monitoring program; DMC, Raw milk testing, Finished Product testing, and Antibiotic testing, chemical titrations. Generate daily reports; data entry and collection; project assistance; filing; assist in conduct of audits, calibrations data collection, communicate with Departments; inventory supplies; assist in providing training for Quality, GMP, and HAACP to new employees and review with tenured employees.

 

responsibilities:

 

  • Scaling in and Out Bulk Milk tankers
  • Collection of State Samples as needed
  • Calibration of FT120 with MMA samples
  • Sampling and testing of Raw Milk loads
  • Daily Thermometer Checks
  • Sampling and testing of Finished Product loads
  • Sampling and testing of Silo inventory at Midnight
  • Tanker Inspections
  • Chemical titrations for CIP verification
  • Data Entry into the plant computer system of Incoming and Outgoing loads
  • Communication of results to Supervisors, Receivers and Operators
  • Analyzing data and charting trends
  • Auditing and Maintaining:
    • Calibration Logs and Documentation for receiving equipment
    • Regulatory testing for antibiotic screening
  • Maintain Laboratory Work Instructions
  • Maintain Laboratory Methods Book for Lab
  • Aid to Lead Operator and Quality Supervisor for Quality issues and project follow-up.
  • Generate reports as necessary for Staff and Supervisors
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of information within the Quality Department
  • The collection and shipment of customer samples
  • Assist Shift Supervisor in Safety and First aid requirements
  • Additional tasks and/or duties as assigned by management
  • Report Concerns/Issues to Laboratory Manager

​Beta Lactam antibiotic testing equipment, computer, copy machine, fax machine, and calculator, microscope, block heater, Smart 6 + Oracle, Sprint Rapid Protein Analyzer, Phoenix Ash Oven, Foss analytical equipment, laboratory equipment as needed.

Any additional testing equipment purchased by the laboratory.

 

qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent required
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point computer software
  • Knowledge of plant and processes
  • Able to prioritize projects and handle multiple projects at one time
  • Possess organizational, time management, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and team-oriented
  • Initiate and determine possible opportunities for improvement
  • Able to work independently without direct supervision

 

food safety requirements:

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
  • In the event of absence, another employee with the same skill level will assume the duties and responsibilities as required.
