job purpose: The Director of Warehouse Operations – West will have direct responsibility for all West zone warehouses in fairlife’s Supply Chain system to include storage, receiving, loading, and shipping of all raw materials and finished product. In addition, this role will be responsible for coordination and oversight of all West zone 3PL facilities from a warehouse and inventory standpoint. Ensure optimized storage and utilization of WMS within each warehouse and review short term vs long term needs. Facilitate the management of finished goods inventory levels and partner with Customer Service Planners towards monitoring inventory levels within the network. Ensure compliance with established procedures and maintain effective internal controls over the physical product flow and accounting of inventory, to include receiving, shipping, and all other areas (internal and third party).

 

responsibilities:

  • Maintain warehousing and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing programs, operational practices, and personnel policies and procedures for all locations in West zone, and partner with East zone Director on a regular basis
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements. Review adherence to requirements and advise on needed actions
  • Safeguard all warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security and safety procedures and protocols in the respective region
  • Facilitate and control inventory levels by ensuring warehouse managers and teams conduct physical counts; reconcile with data storage systems and WMS
  • Ensure Maintenance and physical conditions of all warehouses in West through planning and implementing optimized layouts; inspection of equipment; and work order repair and requisitions
  • Achieve financial objectives for all West zone Warehouse budgets; capital requirements; to include warehouse expansions and racking
  • Responsible for third-party warehouse management and associated shuttle services for all West zone warehouses and 3PL
  • Responsible for inventory control within all warehouses in respective region
  • Review space and capacity of warehouses and compare to current requirements and future needs to ensure short term and long-term cost-effective space and allocation
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of all safety policies, work routines and discipline, training, forklift certification, and replacement, hiring, mentoring, and coaching of engaged warehouse employees
  • Responsible to make sure the right product and the correct quantity is being loaded onto the right trucks
  • Enforce FIFO requirements within all warehouses and 3PLs
  • Be Audit Ready: Ensure critical controls and management systems are always in compliance
  • Be an active part of the emergency response team as prescribed by the company Safety Program
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

skills/qualifications required:

  • Degree in a related discipline and combination of education and warehouse experience required
  • Previous leadership experience in the warehouse and logistics field
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Previous experience managing multiple warehouses preferred

working conditions and physical requirements:

  • 12 hours sitting/standing/walking
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

  • Notify supervision of any repairs or adjustments that are required that may affect product quality or food safety.
  • Understand, observe, and comply with the handling and usage of the color-coded container policy while in the Production Areas.
  • Perform all duties necessary to meet Company, Customer and/or Government requirements/standards as prioritized by the Company.
  • Ability to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of nonconformities relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the product, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Identify and record any problems relating to Food Safety and the Quality of the ingredients, processes, quality system, or safety system.
  • Control further processing or delivery of nonconforming product in terms of Food Safety and Quality issues until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
