job purpose: The Director of Automation is responsible for developing and executing the automation agendas for fairlife, LLC.  This extraordinary role will engage with resources across fairlife’s multi-site organization including, but not limited to IT, Manufacturing and Warehousing strategy leadership, Supply Chain leaders, Engineering and various 3rd parties to deliver the Manufacturing and Warehouse automation agenda.

responsibilities:

  • Manage and execute the strategic vision for automation agendas
  • Provide oversight to fairlife manufacturing Operational Technology (OT) & cybersecurity program.
  • Drive and support standardization across various automation and controls platforms
  • Act as a change manager/coordinator with all business partners.
  • Manage Capital Budgets
  • Facilitate weekly and monthly report outs to Supply Chain leadership
  • Ensures project execution is monitored and managed to meet business requirements: Track project budget, schedule and deliverables using appropriate tools.
  • Reports regularly on status of projects to steering committee and stakeholders, including reports defining project progress, problems, and solutions.
  • Liaise with IT to define areas of responsibility and create support structure to ensure manufacturing uptime.
  • Partner with vendors and suppliers to leverage innovation, training, and productivity 

skills/qualifications required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years in the dairy or beverage industry, with a minimum of 5 years in the automation and cyber-security space.
  •  Knowledge of Operational Technology, including Industrial hardware (PLC’s, VFD’s), Industrial software (Rockwell, Wonderware, Lineview, etc), Industrial Networking (CPwE), Thin client Architecture and Virtualization Technology (VMWare).
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain and Logistics, WMS, WCS, AGV’s and general Automated Warehouse technologies.
  • Strong SharePoint, PMO 365 and Office 365 skills to develop and maintain project trackers and web hosted applications.
  • Extensive leadership skills
  • Collaborative skills and ability to work with a diverse team of resources.
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Ability to lead a team of technical resources and manage a team budget.
  • Ability to communicate clearly within the organization and externally.
  • Experience in Process Plant Engineering.
