about our internship program:

The fairlife Summer Internship Program is designed to welcome interns across our locations to gain meaningful experience and social and professional development opportunities. For 10 weeks, interns will work in one of our three locations: Chicago, IL, Coopersville, MI, or Goodyear, AZ. fairlife’s paid internship program also offers a summer full of social, professional, and community engagement events including exposure to our senior leadership and executives across the business in small group settings, insight into company initiatives, off-site field trips, and for those qualified and selected, an opportunity to pursue a full-time job opportunity.

The fairlife 2023 Summer Internship Program will take place from 6/5 through 8/11 at one of the fairlife locations: Chicago, IL, Coopersville, MI, or Goodyear, AZ.

job purpose: The Channel and Customer Strategy team leads strategic planning and the go-to-market plan for all channels and customers within North America. As the intern on the Channel and Customer Strategy team, this role will support strategy, planning, and communication to our National Retail Sales and Zone Sales teams for the fairlife portfolio of dairy-based nutrition brands. They will work primarily to support large store customers, though they may offer support to our small stores and foodservice channel leads as time allows. The ideal candidate understands that true value creation, both for our customers and the company, is built upon a long-term, shared vision of growth that is grounded in consumer and shopper needs/occasions and informed by leading edge category and channel insights. This individual will work seamlessly across multiple functions within fairlife to support strategic selling decks that deliver long-term, profitable growth for the company and our most valued retail partners.

skills/qualifications required:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program, entering the fall semester as a sophomore, junior, or senior, or are working towards a graduate degree
  • Preferred focus on Marketing, Business, Operations, Management, Data Analytics, Consumer Insights/Sociology, Information Systems, or Sales
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0, or higher
  • Able to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Always curious, always asking questions, and always striving to learn
  • High proficiency with all Microsoft Office platforms, specifically Excel and PowerPoint

project overview and guidelines:

  • Conduct data-driven & insight-driven competitive analyses within the large store channel
  • Dive into the digital impact on brick & mortar large stores
  • Assist with building selling stories for large store customers by pulling data, proofreading decks, and cleaning up design
  • Support Channel & Customer Strategy team leading into selling season
  • Building & maintain a calendar of upcoming customer meetings
  • Visit stores with Commercial and/or Sales counterparts to analyze competitive in-store activity
  • Keep organized file of sales support materials

learning objectives:

  • Exposure to how mid-sized CPG companies (fairlife) and large CPG companies (The Coca-Cola Company) operate
  • Learn about other functions within CPG companies such as Category Commercial, Sales, Shopper Marketing, Revenue Growth Management, Brand/Marketing, Knowledge& Insights, Digital, and Business Intelligence
  • Develop an understanding each of the fairlife brands and all the channels that fairlife plays in
  • Develop an understanding of fairlife Commercial priorities by diving into Channel Plans
  • Learn how to use popular syndicated data sources (Nielsen, IRi, Numerator, etc.) to drive business strategy forward
  • Work cross-functionally with Small Store & Foodservice/On Premise team to learn full scope of channel strategy
  • Networking & Mentoring Opportunities

schedule: Hybrid schedule (in-office 3 days/week, remote 2 days/week). Working hours: 9am – 5pm (flexible as needed).
