job purpose: The Specialist will assist in all activities regarding the processing and management of accounts payable and receivable activities, processing of vendor and customer transactions and perform general accounting and analytical tasks.  This employee must have a strong understanding attention to detail, organization and accuracy are essential skills for this position. 

Responsibilities Related to Accounts Payable:

  • Process vendor invoices through ERP system
  • Reconciliation of vendor statements
  • Knowledge of GL coding of vendor invoices and payment requests
  • Resolves account discrepancies by investigating documentation
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Continuously evaluates work tasks/streams, utilizes current accounting system technology and researches new technology to facilitate efficient functionality and process improvement
  • Work with sales, marketing, accounting, plants and others to ensure the completeness of A/P Invoices submitted for payment
  • Perform additional duties or special assignments as assigned or required

Responsibilities related to Accounts Receivable / Order Entry:

  • Customer cash application – deduction and credit management
  • Customer collections
  • Maintain customer relationships – frequent customer communication
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations
  • Resolves account discrepancies by investigating documentation
  • Manages and audit the overall Accounts Receivable functions to ensure compliance with Company policy
  • Perform additional duties or special assignments as assigned or required

skills/qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
  • Teamwork, collaboration, and ability to flex with the needs of the business
  • Excellent organizational skills including prioritizing, scheduling, and time management. Ability to handle shifting priorities and work in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frame
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Seek new, improved, and innovative ways to increase effectiveness of departmental operations and processes
