job purpose:

The Software Developer will support fairlife's ambition of building a best-in-class Data and Decision Intelligence (DDI) ecosystem. This person will play a lead role on our dev team; creating custom software applications and systems to support critical business functions.  The Software Developer will be required to analyze specifications, build efficient applications, conduct quality testing, and enhance the user interface, and communicate and drive a common vision, practices and capabilities on the development team.

responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of development lifecycle and releases from dev to production utilizing agile development methodologies.
  • Cultivate a strong technical culture through experience sharing, professional development, and mentorship.
  • Write clean, logical, high-quality code and adopt agile-driven development.
  • Stay up to date on new technologies and approaches to software development.
  • Work closely with data team ensuring optimal data structures are leveraged to support the applications.
  • Work on custom software products leveraging many languages, frameworks, and platforms. 
  • Get up to speed on existing projects’ domains, technology stack, and platforms.
  • Participate in the Agile project flow providing solutions and feedback.
  • Work with key stakeholders to clearly define requirements and prioritize project work. 
  • Work with teammates to migrate legacy applications to new tech stack.
  • Contribute to project documentation as needed

skills/qualifications required:

  • 4+ years experience working as a professional software developer
  • Familiar with several programming languages, including in-depth experience with at least one.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills to effectively gather dev requirements
  • Detail oriented, Self-starter with a growth mindset and a passion for creating
  • Value general versatility and flexibility over focused specialization.
  • Ability to handle ambiguity and work in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Experience writing software in either web, mobile, or embedded.
  • Values human-centered design in the product development lifecycle.
  • Effectively communicate technical concepts to team members with varying levels of experience.
  • Experience in full stack development
  • Track record of developing software applications leveraging automated testing
  • Comfortable with pair programming and other Extreme Programming practices

travel requirements: 5-10%
